[05-06-2023] Monterey County, CA – One Person Killed After Suspected DUI Two-Vehicle Crash on SR-1

One person was killed after a suspected DUI two-vehicle crash in Monterey early Saturday morning, May 6, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 25-year-old driver was traveling north in the southbound lanes of State Route 1 around 3:45 a.m. when they collided with a 69-year-old man’s car. The two cars were stuck in the middle of the highway.

The 69-year-old man died at the scene due to his injuries.

The freeway was temporarily closed while the CHP investigated the crash.

Authorities suspect drugs and alcohol played a role in this crash.
