[05-07-2023] Driver Injured After Suspected Reckless DUI Crash Along 101 FreewayA driver was injured after a suspected reckless DUI crash along the 101 Freeway, Ventura County, early Sunday morning, May 07, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the reckless crash happened around 2:00 a.m. along the southbound 101 Freeway near Highway 33.

Adrian G., a 22-year-old Mitsubishi Galant driver, traveled the wrong way in the southbound lane. CHP officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it continued to speed along, hitting a CHP vehicle and causing a Toyota Avalon to veer and crash.

The Toyota driver sustained minor injuries, while Garcia was eventually stopped and arrested. The number of people involved or the extent of injuries have not yet been determined.

Garcia was taken to the Ventura County Main Jail and charged with DUI causing injury, drunk driving, and driving into oncoming traffic.
