An unidentified Sheriff’s Deputy was injured following a traffic crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Oakland on early Sunday morning, May 8, 2022.

An unidentified driver ran a red light and was traveling at high speeds before crashing into the deputy officer’s vehicle.

The officer sustained unspecified injuries and immediately taken to an area hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, officers determined that the other driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

The other driver was then taken into custody and arrested on DUI-related charges. The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed.

Local authorities are further investigating the accident.
