Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision Statistics

In recent years, the number of car accidents in the United States has increased. In the year 2018, 33,654 people were killed in car accidents. A total of 36,560 people were killed in car accidents.

Car accidents on the state’s large and congested highways are common. Every year, many people are killed on California’s roads as a result of high-speed driving and truck accidents.

Because of the state’s large population, there are many more drivers on the road, which could lead to higher auto accident rates across the state.

Between 2014 and 2016, there was a significant increase in fatal crashes. From 2017 to 2020, however, there were minor ups and downs. In California, the number of motor vehicle deaths has increased by 5%, from 3,540 in 2019 to 3,723 in 2020.

According to an OTS poll, 57% of Californians say it is acceptable to drive 10 miles per hour faster on the state’s freeways than the posted speed limit. Nearly 40% of those polled felt they were unlikely to be fined if they went ten miles per hour over the speed limit.

Distracted driving is a serious public safety hazard that must be avoided. Personal injury victims must hold distracted drivers responsible for their actions. Because prosecuting a distracted driver is more difficult than prosecuting a drunk driver, distracted drivers are not always charged criminally.
