[05-08-2022] 36-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Central Near Atlantic AvenueAccording to the police, a man died after being hit by a car while crossing a street in Central Long Beach on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

According to police, the fatal crash occurred Sunday night near Atlantic Avenue and 19th Street in Central Long Beach.

According to police, the man, a 36-year-old Long Beach resident, was “crossing westbound in lanes of traffic outside of a crosswalk and was struck.”

According to police, the man was struck by a Long Beach woman driving a 2014 Honda northbound on Atlantic Avenue who was unable to stop as he crossed the street.

According to authorities, the Long Beach Fire Department rendered aid to the man before transporting him to a local hospital, where he later died.

The woman stayed on the scene to help police with their investigation, and police say they don’t believe distracted driving, impaired driving, or speed were factors in the collision.

The victim’s identity has not been revealed as authorities work to notify the victim’s family.
