An 8-year-old child was killed while his 12-year-old sister was seriously hurt after a traffic crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Industry on early Sunday morning, May 8, 2022.
The accident happened at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
Two vehicles collided on the roadway under unclear circumstances. How the accident occurred and why it happened have not been disclosed.
Three people were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, an 8-year-old boy identified as Philipin Daniel R. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, his 12-year-old sister, identified as Zoya M., was placed in a medically induced coma after having surgery on her tailbone and her spleen removed. She remains in critical condition.
The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to an area hospital. Authorities later determined that he was under the influence at the crash and was ultimately arrested for DUI-related charges.
Local authorities are further investigating the case.
