A motorcycle officer was hurt following a hit-and-run crash with a suspected drunk driver on Adama Street and Indiana Avenue on early Monday morning, May 9, 2022.
The accident happened at approximately 4:45 a.m. at the intersection of Adams Street and Indiana Avenue.
The officer was traveling on a motorcycle at a Riverside intersection when a Hyundai Elantra suddenly struck him. Due to the severity of the impact, the officer was ejected from his motorcycle and landed on the roadway.
The Hyundai driver did not stop to help the officer and tried to drive away from the scene. Fortunately, a concerned bystander witnessed that accident and followed the Hyundai Elantra, keeping the authorities updated on its location.
The officer sustained moderate injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, authorities were able to take the suspect into custody.
The hit-and-run driver was identified as 26-year-old Heather F. She was arrested on DUI-related charges and hit-and-run causing injury. Her bail was set at $50,000.
Local authorities are further investigating the case.
