[05-10-2022] 42-Year-Old Man Killed, Five Others Injured in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in DixonOne person was killed, and five others were injured chain-reaction collision on Interstate 80 in Dixon Tuesday morning, May 10, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at 6:53 a.m. on westbound I-80 at the Pedrick Road onramp, blocking all three westbound lanes.

The crash involved two large pickup trucks and a big rig.

According to the CHP, the driver of a Ford F-650 was westbound on I-80 east of Pedrick Road in the slow lane approaching slower-moving traffic when he rear-ended a Ford F-450.

The impact caused the F-450 driver to lose control and crash into the center median metal guardrail.

The Ford F-650 continued westbound and collided with a Volvo big rig, killing the F-650’s driver.

The 42-year-old Sacramento man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 28-year-old Sacramento man, the F-650’s passenger, was taken to Kaiser Vacaville Hospital with suspected major injuries.

The F-450 driver, a 60-year-old Elk Grove man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Three of his passengers were also treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The big rig driver, a 57-year-old Sacramento man, was unharmed in the collision.

CHP Officer Jason Tyhurst stated that it’s unclear whether distracted driving, drugs, or alcohol intoxication played a role in this collision at this time.
