[05-12-2023] 48-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Killed Following Hit-And-Run Crash on Western AvenueA 48-year-old female pedestrian was killed following a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles on Friday evening, May 12, 2023.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the woman was walking east in the crosswalk on Western Avenue, just north of 43rd Street, around 10:10 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle and knocked to the ground.

Authorities stated that the driver came to a complete stop but did not comply with the law’s requirement to remain at the scene and assist the victim. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, where she died.

The suspect was driving a gold Toyota with a California license plate that read LDH. Officials said the driver fled northbound on Western Avenue after the crash. There was no suspect description available.

Anyone with information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of a hit-and-run case or a civil resolution is eligible for a reward of up to $50,000.
