[05-12-2023] Elderly Male Pedestrian Killed After Hit-And-Run Accident in WheatlandA 78-year-old pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash in Wheatland on Friday evening, May 12, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man seems to have been struck by a 2016 or newer white Chevrolet Malibu sometime Friday night near the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

The body of the male victim from Olivehurst was discovered the next day just south of Highway 65 on Forty Mile Road’s east shoulder. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office contacted CHP Yuba-Sutter and requested a death investigation around 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

The Coroner’s division of the Sheriff’s Office has withheld his identity pending notification of his family.

After the accident, the vehicle’s driver reportedly fled the area, heading towards Highway 65.

The CHP is asking for help in identifying and finding the hit-and-run driver. The authorities are still investigating the crash.
