[05-18-2023] Mendocino County, CA – One Killed, Another Severely Injured After Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash in West Ukiah

One person was killed, and another was severely injured after a single-vehicle rollover crash west of Ukiah Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene around 4:50 p.m. at Ackerman Creek on Masonite Industrial Road.

According to preliminary investigation, the 2011 Ford was moving at an unknown speed east on Masonite Industrial Road when the car veered off the north edge of the road and crashed into a huge rock.

Due to the impact, the vehicle flipped over and ultimately fell off the bridge on Ackerman Creek and into the creek.

The driver suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The passenger was seriously injured and taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for medical attention. The vehicle sustained significant rollover damage.

Alcohol or drugs do not seem to be factors in the accident.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is investigating the death. The deceased’s identity will be revealed once the deceased’s kin have been notified.

Cal Fire, REHIT, and the Ukiah Valley Fire Department all responded at the scene to support the California Highway Patrol’s ongoing investigation.
