[05-18-2023] San Diego County, CA – Two Killed, Four Injured After Reckless High-Speed Motorcycle Collision with Prius in Mission Bay

Two individuals died, and four others suffered severe injuries after a reckless motorcycle and car crash in San Diego on Thursday morning, May 18, 2023.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said the incident occurred before 9:00 a.m. near Quivira Avenue and West Mission Bay Drive.

According to the report, the motorcyclist, traveling at a high speed of over 100 miles per hour, collided with a Toyota Prius, turning right on a green light. The motorcyclist was driving in the bike lane to avoid other vehicles.

Tragically, a 39-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Prius was declared deceased at the hospital. Meanwhile, the remaining four occupants of the Prius, including an infant who suffered only minor injuries, were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The individuals inside the Prius were a visiting family from Los Angeles, comprising children spanning from an infant to a teenager.

The collision is being investigated, and no additional information about the individuals involved has been disclosed. As the authorities continued their presence at the scene, the roadway had to be closed for several hours.
