[05-19-2023] Male Pedestrian Killed After Getting Struck by Vehicle in Northwest BakersfieldA male pedestrian was killed after getting struck by a vehicle in northwest Bakersfield early Friday morning, May 19, 2023.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the fatal crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. at the Hageman Road and Mohawk Street intersection.

The vehicle reportedly traveled westbound on Hageman Road when it struck the pedestrian who walked outside of the crosswalk.

The Kern County Fire and Hall Ambulance responded to the scene and discovered a man with severe injuries. However, despite their best efforts to save his life, the pedestrian was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Neither speed nor driving under the influence were factors in the accident. Investigations into the collision are still ongoing.

This accident marks Kern County’s 27th pedestrian fatality of the year.
