According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 12:27 p.m. on Highway 183 near McFadden Road between Salinas and Castroville.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and confirmed at least one fatality. The exact number of people involved and the identity of the deceased have not yet been released.
