According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred at 4:56 a.m. in the 6300 block of El Cajon Boulevard.

The reports say that the man, who was walking southward across El Cajon, was lying down in one of the lanes for reasons unknown when a vehicle traveling east struck him.

Initially, the driver stopped and assisted the victim in moving away from the road. However, shortly afterward, the driver returned to their vehicle and fled.

The injured man was promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention, and fortunately, his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
