[05-22-2022] Riverside County, CA - 13-Year-Old Boy Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash in IndioA 13-year-old pedestrian identified as Ismael F. was killed after being struck by a pickup truck in Indio on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

According to the Indio Police Department, the fatal traffic collision occurred at 8:22 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 48 and Oasis Street.

According to Indio Police spokesperson Ben Guitron, Fuentes died at the scene.

Fuentes attended Colonel Mitchell Paige Middle School, according to Desert Sands Unified School District spokesperson Mary Perry.

The driver of the pickup truck that hit Fuentes, according to Guitron, was cooperating with police.

According to the department, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the collision.

According to the department, Avenue 48 between Monroe and Jackson Street was closed for about six hours after the accident.
