According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:35 a.m. along westbound Interstate 80 near Abernathy Road.

An undisclosed Honda sedan driver was headed the wrong way when it struck four other vehicles. The driver is suspected of driving under the influence.

There were reports of people trapped inside their vehicles and minor injuries. The exact number of people involved and injured has yet to be determined.

The authorities closed off the westbound lanes to make way for their investigation.
