The authorities identified 49-year-old Francisca D. as one of the victims of a head-on collision in Ione on Monday night, May 23, 2022.
The crash occurred around 11:08 p.m. on State Route 88 near Eggimm Lane.
According to preliminary investigation, a westbound vehicle swerved into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Seven people were injured in the accident, according to the officers.
Francisca D., 49, a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, was identified as one of the victims.
All passengers in both vehicles were said to be buckled up at the time of the collision.
Cassandra S. was apprehended and booked into the Amador County Jail for DWI. There are no other specifics provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
