[05-23-2022] Fresno County, CA – 52-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi on Elm and North

52-year-old Jose C. of Selma was killed in a deadly crash with a semi in Fresno County on Monday, May 23, 2022.

The crash occurred just before 3:00 a.m. on Elm and North.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, the big rig driver was pulling into a driveway when a 2010 Mercury collided with the side of his trailer.

According to investigators, Caratachea-Valencia was traveling at around 100 miles per hour and was unable to stop in time.

The car became lodged beneath the trailer as a result of the collision.

Officers suspect Caratachea-Valencia was intoxicated.

Toxicology tests will be administered by the coroner’s office to determine if alcohol was a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
