A 20-year-old man identified as Christopher U. was killed following a deadly two-vehicle crash in Bakersfield on May 26, 2022.
The fatal collision happened at around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 58 near Buttonwillow in Bakersfield.
A southbound 2017 Lexus was traveling on Cannon Street when it stopped at the intersection of Highway 58.
Meanwhile, a westbound Ford F-250 was driving on Highway 58 when the Lexus pulled out directly in front of it. The Ford could not avoid the Lexus, and the two vehicles crashed into each other.
Due to the severity of the impact, the Ford overturned while the Lexus started spinning out of control before going over a nearby railroad track and stopping in a dirt field.
Unfortunately, the Lexus driver was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Ford driver was injured but was not taken to an area hospital.
Local authorities are further investigating the case.
