[05-26-2023] Female Bicyclist Killed After Hit-and-Run Crash with Vehicle in OakleyA 51-year-old female bicyclist was killed after a hit-and-run crash with a vehicle in Oakley Friday evening, May 26, 2023.

According to the Oakley Police Department, their officers responded to the scene of the fatal crash around 9:01 p.m. at Laurel Road at Live Oak Avenue after receiving reports regarding the collision.

When the authorities arrived on the scene, they discovered the woman breathing but with a severe head injury. The victim was airlifted to the John Muir Medical Center Trauma Unit in Walnut Creek due to the severity of her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Fortunately, the police officers identified the vehicle through surveillance cameras. The suspect drove a black-lifted Dodge pickup truck with dual rear wheels and a tool rack in the truck bed.

Upon identifying the black Dodge truck, Officer Jackson determined it was probably in Baypoint. They responded to the location and arrested 46-year-old man Jose E., the truck’s registered owner, for felony hit and run. He admitted to being involved in the collision.

The victim is still in critical condition as of Saturday evening, May 27, 2023.
