What to Do After a Pedestrian Accident In Emeryville, CA

If you’re involved in a pedestrian accident, it’s important to stay calm. Keeping your composure will help you take the right steps to protect your health and your right to compensation.

Here’s what you should do:

  1. First, check yourself for injuries. If you can move safely, try to get to a safe spot, but do not leave the scene. If you can’t move or think it might make things worse, stay still and ask for help. Wait for paramedics to treat you.
  2. If you can, get the driver’s contact details and ask any witnesses for their information. This will be helpful for the police when they write their report.
  3. If possible, take pictures or videos of the scene, the vehicle involved, and your injuries. This can help support your case later.
  4. When speaking to the police, explain what happened, but avoid making assumptions, apologizing, or taking responsibility for the accident.
  5. Even if you feel fine, it’s important to see a doctor. Some injuries may not show up right away, and getting checked will help with your recovery and any future claims.
  6. Do not post about the accident on social media. Insurance adjusters may try to use this to reduce the amount they offer you.
  7. If you’ve been involved in a pedestrian accident, our attorneys in Emeryville are here to help. We can assist with reviewing your case, gathering evidence, and guiding you through the legal process. Call us at (888) 488-1391 to schedule a consultation and better understand your next steps.
