[05-27-2023] One Man Killed, Two Dogs Injured After Train Collision in CarpinteriaA man was killed, and two dogs were injured in a train collision in Carpinteria on Saturday afternoon, May 27, 2023.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jarett M. said the collision occurred just west of Bates Road and Rincon Park at around 12:15 p.m.

First on the scene were Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District and SBCO officers. At this point, it is unclear what the specifics of the incident led to it.

The victim was declared dead at the scene by Montecito Fire Protection District officer Scott E.. Two dogs were also injured and surrendered to Animal Services.

The victim’s identity will be withheld until his next of kin is notified.
