Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Many drivers aren’t aware that single-vehicle collisions are among the deadliest on California’s roads.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 62% of all fatal car accidents in California involve just one vehicle. As a result of the high number of single-vehicle accidents in California, motorists must be knowledgeable about all of the possible causes.

There are a slew of potential causes for a single-vehicle collision. Single-car accidents are common on wet or icy roads when the driver loses control of their vehicle while speeding or making sharp turns. Another common type of roadside litter is large branches and truck bed debris.

An accident resulting from an unexpected occurrence such as an animal jumping in front of your car is likely to limit your compensation under your insurance policy’s comprehensive coverage plan.

Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers

Because of their injuries, many car accident victims are unable to return to work or school. When someone dies as a result of the negligence of another driver, that person is still held accountable for their actions. The surviving family members of the victim can file wrongful death lawsuits against the driver who was negligent and as a result caused the victim’s death (or legal heirs).

As they relive their losses and grief, they feel the pain of it all over again. In depositions and trials, victims are required to give testimony about their losses to strangers. Dealing with the stress of a lengthy legal battle can have a negative impact on one’s mental health.

It’s critical to hold reckless drivers accountable when they cause an accident. Accountability is critical in cases where negligence has resulted in an unnecessarily large death toll. While wrongful death claims can be emotionally draining, they can also provide a measure of closure for the families of those who have died. This will benefit every driver in California.
