[05-28-2023] Driver Killed, Another Injured Following DUI Solo-Car Crash on Highway 108A 40-year-old Modesto driver was killed, and another driver was injured following a DUI solo car crash in Tuolumne County on Sunday afternoon, May 28, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on Highway 108/49 at the roundabout near the Chicken Ranch Rancheria resort construction.

Authorities stated that the Modesto man was driving a 2009 GMC Yukon westbound at high speed when he made an unsafe turning movement and collided with a metal light pole.

The SUV overturned several times while passing through the traffic circle (roundabout), and the driver was fully ejected. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he was pronounced dead. Officials added that he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Debris from the GMC also struck a 2019 Nissan Rogue driven eastbound by a 43-year-old man identified as Timothy P. He was transported to Adventist Health Sonora to treat his minor injuries.

The authorities have not yet released additional details about the crash. The collision investigation continues.
