[05-29-2023] Fatal DUI Multi-Vehicle Crash on SR-76 in Pala Leaves One Dead, Multiple InjuredA man died, and seven individuals were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Pala, San Diego County, on Monday evening, May 29, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 76 and Magee Road.

According to the CHP, a woman, who was driving an eastbound Toyota Camry, veered across the center line of SR-76 and entered the opposing traffic lane.

The crash involved at least three vehicles and caused injuries to seven individuals. The deceased victim’s identity has not been disclosed, pending notification of their next of kin.

The CHP stated that the woman driving the Camry was apprehended on charges including felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

CHP issued a SigAlert and closed SR 76 near the crash site. The road was reopened several hours later.

The investigation is ongoing.
