To avoid severe head injuries, it is critical to wear a helmet. Helmets were found to be 37% effective in preventing motorcycle fatalities in the study. They may still be at risk of infection in other parts of their bodies.

In the United States, drunk driving, recklessness, inclement weather, wrong-way driving, and failure to obey traffic rules are all common causes of motorcycle accidents.
