[06-01-2023] Four People Suffered Injuries Following Multi-Vehicle Collision in Santa MariaFour people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle collision in Santa Maria on Thursday afternoon, June 1, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred near Black Road in the 2600 block of Mahoney Road at approximately 1:00 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, while the third overturned off the roadway.

Authorities reported two women in one of the head-on vehicles; one with significant injuries was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by a county helicopter, and the other with minor injuries was transported by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Officials added a male driver and the only occupant of the other vehicle involved in the head-on collision were transported to Marian via ground ambulance with serious injuries. Heavy extrication efforts were required to free the wounded from the wreckage of the vehicles. The female vehicle driver that ran off the road was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

The identities and conditions of the injured were not readily available. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities promptly.

The investigation into the collision continues.
