One pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Madera County on Sunday morning, June 4, 2023.

According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred before 9:30 a.m. near Avenue 15 1/2 and Road 29.

The report said the individual was struck by the train outside a designated crossing en route from Barstow, CA, to Pasco, WA.

The incident remains under investigation, with the MCSO responding to the scene.
