Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

Accidents caused by another driver’s carelessness can be one of the most terrifying things that can happen to you. If the other driver does not pull over and take responsibility for the collision, things will only get worse.

Hit-and-run accidents are all too common. In 2016, 2,049 people were killed in hit-and-run accidents in the United States. Over 680,000 hit and runs are reported in the United States every year. One pedestrian is killed by a car every week in the United States.

When a negligent driver causes an accident, there is no recourse for pedestrians.

What causes someone to flee the scene of an accident is subjective to a large extent. The more vulnerable a person is, the more likely they are to be involved in a car accident. They are more likely to flee the scene of an accident if they have been drinking than to accept the consequences of their actions.
