[06-06-2022] Humboldt County, CA - 59-Year-Old Bicyclist Critically Injured After Being Hit By Hit-And-Run Vehicle on Hiller RoadAccording to The California Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old bicyclist was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle in McKinleyville Monday, June 6, 2020.

The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. northbound on McKinleyville Avenue approaching Hiller Road.

According to the CHP, the 59-year-old bicyclist came to a halt at the intersection as a car approached westbound Hiller Road.

The bicyclist entered the intersection after seeing the car slow down but was hit by the car when it failed to stop at the intersection.

The vehicle is described as a silver, newer, “boxy” van with dark tinted windows, according to the CHP.

The driver, an unidentified woman, got out of her car briefly to inspect the man lying on the ground before driving away.

The bicyclist described the woman as dark-complected, in her mid-30s, with long black hair, and wearing a floral pattern dress.

The Humboldt CHP is asking for the public’s help locating the vehicle involved in the crash and identifying the driver.
