[06-07-2023] Year-Old Salinas Man Dead, 22-Year-Old Las Vegas Woman Injured After Suspected DUI Solo-Vehicle Crash in PrunedaleA man died while a woman was injured in a suspected DUI solo-vehicle crash in Prunedale, Monterey County, on Wednesday evening, June 7, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on the southbound lanes of Highway 101, south of the off-ramp at San Miguel Canyon Road, at around 10:24 p.m.

A 2013 Mazda CX-5, driven by Dante J., was seen speeding and swerving on the highway before crashing through a guardrail, causing it to fly off the road and into the trees.

Both occupants were trapped in the car following the crash. Upon rescue, Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Las Vegas woman sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Natividad Medical Center.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident.
