[06-08-2023] 1 Person Killed, Another Injured Following High-Speed Two-Vehicle Collision in GardenaA motorist was killed, while another sustained unspecified injuries after a two-vehicle collision at a stoplight in Gardena on Thursday evening, June 8, 2023.

According to Lt. Chris C. of the Gardena Police Department, the incident happened on 135th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard at around 7:55 p.m.

In the northbound lane of Crenshaw Boulevard, the Kia was traveling at a fast pace when it struck a black Mercedes Benz, which was idle at a stoplight. The collision resulted in major damage to both vehicles and their occupants.

The driver of the Kia was transported to a hospital but died there from injuries sustained. The driver of the Mercedes Benz, whose identity is being withheld until notification of next of kin, was also taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

It is uncertain whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in this incident.
