Motorcycle Accident Statistics

Motorcyclists do not have the same level of protection as car drivers. They are similar to cars in speed and road conditions, but they do not provide the same level of protection.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcycle riders are responsible for around 11% of all road accidents in the United States. There were 82,000 motorcycle-related injuries and 4,985 motorcycle-related deaths in 2018.

This is hardly surprising, given that motorcycle riders are 16 times more likely to be wounded or killed in a car accident than passengers in enclosed cars.

Unfortunately, California is not a particularly safe state for motorcyclists. California has the most legally registered motorcycles in the US, with over 800,000 registered motorcycles. In 2017, 16,505 motorcycle accidents injured 15,527 individuals and killed 541 people on California’s highways.

Even during the day, some drivers may find it difficult to see motorcycles due to poor visibility. Wearing bright clothes is an excellent approach to attract the attention of other drivers on the road. It is more vital to avoid an accident than to make a fashion statement on the road, even if this does not suit some people’s style.
