Authorities say two teenagers were critically injured in a crash in south Oxnard on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the collision occurred around 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Longfellow Way, roughly west of Rose Avenue.
The two teenagers, both 17 years old, were riding in a Honda Accord from 1997. Officials say the driver is from Port Hueneme, and the passenger is from Oxnard.
According to police Cmdr. Robin Whitney, the Honda was traveling westbound on Pleasant Valley when the driver lost control east of Longfellow and collided with a block wall and a palm tree on the north side of the road.
Both of the teenagers were stranded in the vehicle.
According to police, the teens were extricated from the wreckage by Oxnard firefighters and transported by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition.
Motorists were diverted onto Terrace Avenue after the incident closed westbound Pleasant Valley at Terrace Avenue.
Authorities said they were still looking into the cause and whether speed, alcohol, or drugs played a role.
Car Crash Statistics
A majority of Californians are unaware of the dangers of single-vehicle collisions.
More than six out of ten fatal car accidents in California involve only one vehicle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It’s important to know what causes a single-vehicle accident in California if you’re a driver there.
There are many possible causes for a single-vehicle collision. Single-car accidents are common when a driver loses control of their vehicle while speeding or making sharp turns on wet or icy roads. Large branches and truck bed debris are also common roadside litter.
In the event of an accident caused by an unexpected event, such as an animal jumping in front of your vehicle, the comprehensive coverage plan of your insurance policy is likely to limit your compensation.
Ventura County Car Accident Lawyers
As a result of their injuries, many car accident victims are unable to return to work or school. Regardless of whether a victim dies as a direct result of another driver’s carelessness, the person responsible must answer for their actions. Surviving relatives (or legal heirs) of victims may bring a lawsuit against the driver who killed them due to their carelessness.
They have a hard time undergoing this procedure. Victims must testify in front of strangers in depositions and trials about the harm they have suffered. One’s mental health can suffer greatly during a long legal battle.
Drivers must be held accountable if they cause an accident. It is critical to hold those responsible accountable when a large number of people are killed as a result of their own carelessness. Bringing a wrongful death lawsuit can bring compensation to the families of those who have lost a loved one. Everyone in California who owns a vehicle will be pleased to hear this.
