[06-10-2025] Kern County, CA – Man Killed, Two Injured in Suspected DUI Crash at Union Avenue and East California Avenue in Bakersfield

A man was killed, and two others were injured after a suspected DUI crash at the intersection of Union Avenue and East California Avenue in Bakersfield on Tuesday night, June 10, 2025.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident occurred just after 11:00 p.m. when the driver of a BMW traveling north on Union Avenue allegedly ran a red light.

The BMW collided with a Dodge Charger that was heading west on East California Avenue and had entered the intersection on a green light.

The driver of the Dodge, a man, suffered severe injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The BMW’s passenger, also a man, sustained severe injuries, while the driver suffered moderate injuries. Both were hospitalized for treatment.

Police said speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
