- Check For Injuries And Seek Medical Help
Immediately check yourself and others involved in the accident for injuries. Even if you don’t feel injured, it’s important to seek medical care right away. Some injuries may not be immediately noticeable, and having a medical record will be crucial for your recovery and any future legal claims. - Call The Police
Report the accident to the police as soon as possible. The authorities will document the incident and file an official accident report, which will be important for your case, especially if legal action is necessary. - Gather Evidence At The Scene
If you’re able, take photos of the scene, your injuries, the vehicles involved, and any damage. This evidence can support your case later on. Additionally, write down any details you remember about the crash, including the time, location, weather, and road conditions. - Collect Witness Information
If there were any witnesses to the accident, get their names and contact information. Witnesses can provide valuable details that may help in understanding what happened during the accident. - Contact A Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

Motorcycle Accident Statistics
Motorcycle accidents remain a significant traffic safety concern in the United States, as motorcyclists are more vulnerable to serious injuries or fatalities during crashes. Despite making up a small portion of all vehicles on the road, motorcyclists account for a disproportionately high share of traffic-related deaths and injuries. In 2021, motorcyclists represented 13.8 percent of all traffic fatalities in the U.S., while motorcycles made up only 3.5 percent of all registered vehicles and accounted for just 0.6 percent of all Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT).
In 2021, a total of 5,932 motorcyclists were killed across the country. California alone saw 565 motorcyclist fatalities that year. The national data shows a concerning 7.7 percent increase in motorcycle fatalities between 2020 and 2021, while California experienced a 2.9 percent rise in the same period. These statistics highlight the ongoing risks motorcyclists face on the road despite efforts to improve safety.
