[06-14-2022] Butte County, CA – 20-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash Involving SUV in Magalia

A 20-year-old man was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident in Butte County on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

The collision occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Dogtown Road, north of Skyway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old Magalia man was driving south on Dogtown Road.

His motorcycle collided with 37-year-old Noelle S. of Stirling City, who was driving an oncoming SUV.

The man was thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead on the spot.

The victim’s identity was not immediately disclosed.

The SUV veered off the road and into a ravine.

According to the CHP, the SUV’s driver suffered moderate injuries.

The CHP is still investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.

The Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) of the US Department of Transportation shows that 5,014 motorcyclists were killed in accidents in 2019. It had been decreasing since the early 1980s, but it began to rise again in 1998 and remained stable until 2008.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), motorcycle riders are 16 times more likely to be injured and 35 times more likely to die in a collision than passengers in a car.
