Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Single-vehicle collisions are among the deadliest on California’s roads, but many motorists aren’t aware of that.

In California, a single-vehicle crash is responsible for 62% of all fatal car accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Because of the high number of single-vehicle accidents in California, motorists must know about the various contributing factors of a traffic collision.

A variety of factors can cause a single-vehicle collision. Off-the-road accidents, also known as runaway vehicles, can happen if you drive recklessly on a slippery road while speeding or making sharp turns. Branches and other debris from passing trucks clog the road.

If a single-car accident is caused by something other than your or another driver’s negligence, your comprehensive insurance policy is likely to pay less.
