Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Single-vehicle collisions are among the deadliest on California’s roads, but many motorists aren’t aware of that.

In California, a single-vehicle crash is responsible for 62% of all fatal car accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Because of the high number of single-vehicle accidents in California, motorists must know about the various contributing factors of a traffic collision.

A variety of factors can cause a single-vehicle collision. Off-the-road accidents, also known as runaway vehicles, can happen if you drive recklessly on a slippery road while speeding or making sharp turns. Branches and other debris from passing trucks clog the road.

If a single-car accident is caused by something other than your or another driver’s negligence, your comprehensive insurance policy is likely to pay less.

Humboldt County Car Accident Lawyers

Most people who are hurt in a car accident are unable to return to work or school. It’s still a crime to drive recklessly, even if you kill someone else in the process. Those who died in a car accident may file wrongful death lawsuits against the driver who caused their death.

It’s difficult for them to revisit their painful pasts of loss and grief. Victims must testify in front of strangers during depositions and trials. Delays in legal proceedings can negatively impact a person’s mental health.

Immediate action is required to hold a driver accountable for a car accident. The high death toll that has resulted from a lack of attention must be held accountable by someone. Legal action in wrongful death cases is both time-consuming and emotionally draining, but can also help grieving families come to terms with the loss of a loved one.
