[06-14-2023] 67-Year-Old Killed, Two People Injured After Two-Vehicle Collision Near AromasA 67-year-old man died, while two people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision near Aromas in Monterey County on Wednesday morning, June 14, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at approximately 5:18 a.m. west on San Juan Road, approaching Murphy Road.

According to the report, the 2018 Chevrolet Express van with a driver and 12 passengers was traveling west on San Juan Road, approaching Murphy Road. At the same time, a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van was heading east on San Juan Road.

The Chrysler minivan crossed the double yellow lines for unknown reasons, resulting in a head-on collision with the Chevrolet Express.

The driver of the Chrysler minivan, a 67-year-old man from Salinas and the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead.

The 62-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet Express sustained severe injuries and was taken to Natividad Hospital. One passenger in the Chevrolet Express complained of pain following the crash.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing.
