[06-14-2023] Orange County, CA – Unidentified Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Metro Link Train in Santa Ana

An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metro Link train in Santa Ana on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2023.

The collision involving a train and a pedestrian was reported on the railroad lines near the intersection of East 17th Street and North Lincoln Avenue around 5:27 p.m., according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

When authorities arrived, they discovered a pedestrian lying on the railroad tracks and pronounced them dead. Officials said the Metrolink train that hit the pedestrian stopped nearby, causing vehicle and train traffic to be blocked until further notice.

No other information was provided, and why the pedestrian was on the train tracks was unclear. The investigation into the fatal crash is still ongoing.
