A 52-year-old woman identified as Michelle R. was killed following a fatal head-on DUI collision on Highway 58 on Friday, June 17, 2022.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 8:17 p.m. on Highway 58 west of General Beale Road.
A Nissan Sentra and a Chevy Silverado were involved in the collision.
Ayana C., a 27-year-old resident of San Mateo, California, was operating a Nissan Sentra west on Highway 58 when, according to police, she made an unsafe turn that caused her vehicle to veer off the road.
Council lost control of her vehicle and drove over the center line into the Highway 58 eastbound lanes.
The Silverado was being driven by the 52-year-old woman when Council struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The Silverado had to roll several times as a result of the collision.
Council received medical attention at a hospital. The Silverado’s driver was declared dead at the scene.
Booking records show that Council was detained on suspicion of murder, felony DUI, and gross vehicular manslaughter.
