Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics

According to the National Safety Council, motorcycles were responsible for many road fatalities and occupant deaths in 2020. Some injuries could have been prevented by wearing a helmet.

For every 100,000,000 kilometers traveled, the number of transportation-related deaths increased by 23% in 2020.

In California, motorcycle riders are disproportionately killed on the roads, with reckless driving accounting for only 6% of the fatalities. Even though motorbikes can help riders navigate roadways quickly, studies suggest that returning to motorcycling after an accident is more challenging than returning to driving.
