[06-20-2023] Contra Costa County, CA – Truck Driver Seriously Injured After Big Rig Collision in Richmond

A truck driver was seriously injured after a big rig collision in Richmond early Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 1:30 a.m. along the westbound Potrero Avenue offramp.

A truck carrying sugar cargo reportedly sped and collided with another truck carrying carnival equipment. The two trucks got stuck together and blocked traffic in all lanes.

The carnival truck driver suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital via air, while the sugar truck driver appeared to be fine.

Further details on the collision have yet to be released by the authorities.
