One person was killed, and two others sustained injuries in a tragic wrong-way collision between two vehicles in Turlock City on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a report about a crash in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Lander Avenue around 3:15 a.m.
Upon their arrival at the scene, CHP officers discovered a severely damaged Tesla with its front end impacted, obstructing both the first and second lanes of the highway. Meanwhile, a white sedan lay on its right side within the central median, exhibiting significant front-end damage and burn marks.
According to the preliminary investigation, the sedan was heading southbound in the northbound lanes, leading to the collision that engulfed the white sedan in flames.
The driver of the sedan died at the scene, while a 37-year-old man and a six-year-old child were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. No identifications have been released yet.
Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the incident. No further details have been disclosed at this time.
