[06-21-2023] Multiple People Injured, One Died After Multi-Vehicle Crash Near ByronMultiple people were injured, and one person died after a multi-vehicle crash near Byron, Contra Costa County, on Wednesday afternoon, June 21, 2023.

According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the fatal crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. along Vasco Road, south of Camino Diablo.

Three vehicles were involved: a pickup truck, a van, and an unknown vehicle. Reports say that the crash started when one vehicle tried to pass another vehicle.

An unidentified person was declared dead at the scene. Ten people were injured, including two severe injuries, four moderate injuries, and four minor injuries.

Some victims were airlifted to John Muir Hospital, including a 31-year-old and a 40-year-old, while some were transported through an ambulance.

The authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the fatal crash.
