[06-22-2022] Santa Cruz County, CA - One Person Dead, Another Eight Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 129According to the Emergency officials, a two-vehicle crash killed one and injured another eight individuals on Highway 129 at Old Chittenden Road Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2022.

According to California Highway Patrol officer Stephen Armfield, the crash occurred at 3:45 p.m. near the San Benito/Santa Cruz county line.

The male driver of a Honda Ridgeline pickup was traveling east on Highway 129 when he drifted over the double yellow line and smashed head-on into a westbound Chevy Silverado pickup towing a 30-foot travel camper.

One man in the Honda died at the scene, and eight other people were hurt, Armfield said.

The collision is still under investigation.

It was unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
