[06-23-2023] Collision Between Two Trucks Killed One Person, Injured Another Along Oregon-California BorderOne person was killed and another was injured after a collision between two trucks along the Oregon-California Border in Siskiyou County on Friday night, June 23, 2023.

According to the Yreka division of the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of Harpold Road and Stateline Road at about 11:00 p.m.

The 2008 AM General truck reportedly traveled southbound on Harpold Road just north of the Oregon-California border. For an unknown reason, the General truck traveled directly into the path of a 1989 Freightliner truck traveling westbound on State Line Road.

The crash knocked down power lines, causing the AM General to catch fire. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center. The driver of the Freightliner, who didn’t appear to be wearing a seat belt, was ejected from their vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no other information available about the identities of the people involved.

The involvement of alcohol or drugs contributing to the collision has been ruled out. The investigation into the crash continues.
