According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on the eastbound lanes of Highway 46, west of Holloway Road, at around 2:50 a.m.

Arella A., a Hemet resident, was driving her gray 2021 Nissan Versa eastbound at 60 miles per hour on the highway when she was rear-ended by a speeding dark-colored 2015-2019 GMC Sierra 2500. The driver of the GMC fled the scene after the collision with damage to its front end.

The victim sustained major injuries in the incident and was rushed to Kern Medical.

The suspect is still at large. Anyone with information about this hit-and-run incident is encouraged to call the authorities.
