[06-26-2023] Family Injured in Yucca Valley Traffic Collision, Two Men Arrested for Drunk DrivingA DUI and hit-and-run crash in Yucca Valley on Monday afternoon, June 26, 2023, resulted in multiple family members being injured and hospitalized.

The County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report around 2:30 p.m. near Sante Fe Trail and Fox Trail.

According to the report, Deputies discovered the empty Cadillac amidst a cloud of dust. Adjacent to the scene was an overturned Ford Explorer, occupied by a 63-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man, a 4-year-old boy, and a 2-year-old girl, all residents of Yucca Valley.

The injured passengers, including the children, were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Deputies identified Alvaro R., a 26-year-old Yucca Valley resident, as the driver of the Cadillac. They also determined that he had fled the collision scene along with a passenger, Edilberto M., a 32-year-old Yucca Valley resident.

Eventually, the Deputies located Rodriguez and Morales at their nearby residence, where they were found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of hit and run involving injuries, DUI causing a traffic collision with injuries, and driving with a blood alcohol content over 0.15%.

They were subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with bail set at $250,000 for Rodriguez and $30,000 for Morales.
